Farm to Bistro Business Manager

Tell us about your role:
As the Business Manager, I work with both the TC3 Farm on the college campus in Dryden and the Culinary Center, Restaurant, and Event space at Coltivare in Ithaca. My role includes human resources, payroll, and accounts payable.
How did you come to join the Coltivare team?
I was very excited to begin a new adventure as the Farm to Bistro Business Manager after working in Enrollment Services at Tompkins Cortland for 15 years. I liked the challenge of an entrepreneurial role that would use my MBA degree and thought I could help define the job and help connect the two new ventures with the college’s culture and values.
What is not to love about our mission, “To educate and inspire our students and community by demonstrating best practices in a real world learning environment, while providing a positive and memorable experience and innovative cuisine, using local, sustainably sourced products.”
I am also a master gardener, which only enhances the joy of my role. I love being in an environment where I can easily learn more about food and gardening just by talking to colleagues at work!
Favorite feature of the Finger Lakes region?
The natural beauty and the opportunity to hike and bike and garden.
I love the idea of always learning about better ways to grow, prepare and enjoy simple healthful food. It is always fun to try new vegetables from the farm.
